WHAT IS HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING?
Trenchless construction consists of installing pipes (e.g., culverts, utility lines) via “tunneling” under a highway, river or a building. Trenchless construction should be considered in areas where conventional open-trench construction methods are undesirable.
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a method of installing underground pipelines, cables and service conduit through trenchless methods. It involves the use of a directional drilling machine (rig), and associated attachments, to accurately drill along the chosen bore path and back ream the required pipe.
