Bosun for permanent employment
One of our clients is a company with mid size charter ships that cruise with parties between 25-50 people in exotic parts of the World.
The Job: to organize and plan out work on the deck in order to secure that all deck
operations and maintenance work are effectively enforced.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing all the activities assigned to him by the Chief Officer
with the suitable assistance and cooperation of the crew. - Monitoring the daily work routine of the crew on deck and to secure
that it is carried out according to safety working practices. - Ensuring that the equipment and deck materials are maintained in an
optimal manner. - Ensuring that the supplies are received and kept in good condition.
- Ensuring the secure stay of the passengers on the decks of the
vessel. - Fully briefing the master and the chief officer about the activities of
the crew and notifying them of any issue that may come up. - Carrying out guards.
- Ensuring that new coming deck crew is familiar with operating the
deck machinery and especially the anchor winches and mooring
equipment. - Following safe working practices at all times and especially:
o For the painting of the vessel
o For the safe storage and lashing of deck objects
o For the securing of doors and checking of waterproofed
segments of the vessel
o For the supervision of tender/rescue boats on the ship
o For the compliance of all duties and responsibilities that are
anticipated from the regulation of internal service of the
ships.
o For the cleanness of the decks and bridge. - Responsible for the carriage of spares, provisions, stores, luggage
and garbage as it may be ordered. - Seafarer should cater for keeping his/her personal cabin clean and
tidy and keep same as such at his/ her own time and effort.
Reports to The Chief Officer
Note: Seafarers are employed as per MLC requirements. Their monthly earnings
correspond to 312 hours of work, or on average 10 hours of work per day, including Sundays.
Seafarer is entitled to minimum 10 hours of rest per 24 hours or minimum 77 hours of rest per 7
days.
